Creed XII/ Eid XII

Promise yourself to live in the faith that the whole world is on your side, so long as you are true to the best that is in you.

The end of the creed. It's been an interesting two weeks. I think I'll go over some of the points again. But the effect of optimism is clear. My life took on a new glow with an optimistic attitude. And I shared the creed with a lot of people in my classes. We chomped over it, debated it.

In the end, it doesn't matter what I think and say, it's what I do that counts. Hugs for Haiti.

Hurra!

Creed XI/ Eid XI

My computer, or RATHER THE sERVER FOR THIS BLOG DID ANOTHER SHIFT ON ME: oops, now my computer did one too. As you can see, I type with my eyes on the keys. Never did learn to type professionally, even though I get pretty fast my way...

Anyway, the dates of the entries are misleading. Somehow, if I post an entry too early in the morning, it gets registered as the day before. I love the constant reminder of how relative time is. And it makes me certain that time travel must be possible somehow.

For today, something more mundane, back to the second to last line of the creed:
Promise to think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud word, but in good deeds.

I like this one, too. But what good can I do today? I'm still working on the too noble for anger bit from yesterday.
Hugs for Haiti!

Creed X/ Eid X

Promise yourself to be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

This is another whopper. But as I go through the creed daily, I'm finding it easier to memorise and implement bits of it. Snippets come back to me on the train ride home, or in between classes, at breaktime. I don't suppose this kind of thing happens overnight.

It's the path that counts. Hugs for Haiti!

Tja.

Creed V/ Eid V

I like today's bit of the optimist's creed:
Promise yourself to think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best.

Just having this kind of focus works miracles. I can see it in my own life. I have more energy. My cells are buzzing and my heart glowing. Today I sprang out of bed rearing to go. My back burner plan to run a half marathon is calling.

It remains to be seen whether I can implement these principles longterm, or even lifelong. But first of all, let me deal with today. Yay!
Hugs for Haiti.

Alles Gute.

Creed IV/ Eid IV

Ah. Thank God for a sunny day. It's as if the winter never existed. Birds cheeping all over the place, trees aching to bud, "springtime, springtime," they're whispering. And it matches today's bit of the optimist's creed perfectly:

Promise yourself to look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Yay!
Hugs for Haiti.

Creed III/ EidIII

Sleep is great. I am grateful for the natural rhythms of life. I'm also half asleep. Just got up to be faithful to the blog. Is that dedication, or what?
Hugs for Haiti.

The third bit of the Optimist's Creed:
Promise yourself
to make all your friends feel there is something worthwhile in them.

My friends, a sadly neglected breed of late. I haven't been very communicative while working on changing myself. But they'll understand. And love me whatever I do, however I am. Often it's an email or a phone call from a distant friend that makes my day. My week, my life. Thank God for them. May I be worthy of their friendship and love.

Gute Nacht.

Optimist

Jeg er en optimist!
The first song I'm learning in Norwegian is about being an optimist. It fits. I don't understand every word yet, but I get the gist. It mentions seeking warmth in the stars...Funny, I never thought of the stars as sources of warmth before. I guess it depends how close one gets.

Ad astra per aspera was the school motto I have lived by for as long as I can remember. But maybe I've laid too much emphasis on the aspera part. I love challenges and difficulties. I thrive on applying my problem-solving skills. Sure, I love a good victory, too, or a job well done. But it never takes long before I'm looking for the next one.

Here's a good theme for the next two weeks: The Optimist's Creed by a chap called Christian D. Larson, a 1912 work I read about in Joe Vitale's book Attract Money Now. It's nice to have a new theme to blog about. Yay! See you again?

Hurra!
Hugs for Haiti.
