Sleep is great. I am grateful for the natural rhythms of life. I'm also half asleep. Just got up to be faithful to the blog. Is that dedication, or what?
Hugs for Haiti.
The third bit of the Optimist's Creed:
Promise yourself
to make all your friends feel there is something worthwhile in them.
My friends, a sadly neglected breed of late. I haven't been very communicative while working on changing myself. But they'll understand. And love me whatever I do, however I am. Often it's an email or a phone call from a distant friend that makes my day. My week, my life. Thank God for them. May I be worthy of their friendship and love.
Eigentlich bin ich zu verschlafen um etwas Vernunftiges zu schreiben. Also lass ich es. Auf Englisch fällt das Bluffen leichter. Deutsch ist irgendwie zu Schade dazu. Gute Nacht.

Jeg heter...
Learning a new language is fantastic. Funny how human beings all say the same things. The first lesson of French, Spanish, Croatian, and German, of course, consisted of the typical "I am..." and "you?"
I did have a wicked friend from Singapore who taught me an insult and claimed it was a greeting. It shocked the groin off the guy from Hong Kong when I rattled it off (my Cantonese intonation is perfect, even tho I had no clue what I was saying). And a Brazilian friend taught me a mournful folk song, a Nepalese friend, no clue what the song means, I've forgotten.
The deepest was the Hungarian love song another friend taught me. I sang it for the woman whose house I stayed in when I went to Sopron 25 years ago. She was enthused.
Sometimes it's not what we say, but how we say it.
Hugs for Haiti.
Eigentlich gibt es nicht viel zu quatschen und ich muss jetzt los. Oder zumindest bald. Schönen Tag Euch allen.

Woman/ Frau
Yesterday, I opened an email from an old friend, i.e. friend for 27 years, going 28. She hates it when I tell people that, pretends we met in kindergarten. She's sensitive about our age. But heck, it's the truth, we're getting on.
Anyway, she sent a chain letter for women. I really hate those things, especially the ones that threaten with bad luck. I never send those ones on. I figure the buck stops with me and I'll face whatever luck may come.
But this one is worth sharing. Here's to all the women who have touched my life. As you know from the thank count, there've been thousands!
May there be peace within today.
May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.
May you use the gifts you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content within yourself just the way you are.
Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us.
(Then followed the bit about pass this on to twelve friends, don't break chain, hope you made a wish, see what happens in four days, etc...)
Hurra!
